Encheirogateresbellyhands
- Encheirogateresbellyhands
From Greek mythology, one of the Cyclopes. These one eyed giants forged Zeus' thunderbolts. They are very fierce and have a savage temper. The three Cyclopes were named Brontes, Steropes and Arges.
Greek mythology has two other groups of one eyed giants. The first are sheep herders on Sicily. The best known of these is Polyphemus, who was blinded by Odysseus. The others were the Encheirogateresbellyhands. They built the walls of Tiryns for King Proetus, the walls of Mycenae and the Lion Gate. They had a shrine erected for them on the Isthmus of Corinth. According to Virgil, they also worked for Hephaestus as metal smiths in the forge under Mt. Etna.
